Lingerie Coffee Truck Turns Heads in Hawaii

Food and beverage trucks are popping up in cities all over, and many are quick to gain a cult following. Honolulu’s Wild Bean Espresso truck is one of the city’s most popular places to get coffee, but the novelty doesn’t just lie in the beverage shop’s mobility — the truck is staffed entirely by lingerie-clad young women.

Known to some locals as "the lingerie lunchwagon," the truck, decorated in zebra print with a hot pink silhouette of a woman holding a drink, offers standard coffee shop beverage fare, plus smoothies and Italian sodas. As can be expected, the truck has amassed a group of dedicated regulars and is quickly becoming a tourist attraction, but also has its fair share of detractors who find the concept offensive.

Despite any controversy, Wild Bean Espresso is doing well enough to expand quickly — another truck can now be found in Honolulu and one opened in Pearl City, bringing the number of Wild Bean Espresso outposts to three.

Controversial Cacique Ad Wins AME Award

Lane Bryant’s “red bra” commercial, which the company accused FOX and ABC of discriminating against in 2009 because it featured a plus-size model, won this year’s AME Platinum award.

Zimmerman Advertising created the commercial, in which model Ashley Graham is clad in various lingerie outfits, for Lane Bryant’s Cacique division of intimate apparel. In spring 2009, Lane Bryant claimed that ABC and FOX restricted the commercial’s airtime while allowing sexy Victoria’s Secret ads to run freely. Fueled by this controversy, the commercial became a YouTube sensation, rising to the slot of most watched viral video worldwide on April 29, according to Advertising Age. Both FOX and ABC denied any discrimination.

The AME Awards recognize creative and successful marketing strategies. The commercial is still available on YouTube under the heading “Lane Bryant Ad: Not What Mom Would Wear.”

The Ultimate in Sports Bras

Freya Active is the sub-brand of Freya lingerie which caters to larger busted sports lovers.  This non-compression design shapes and lifts rather than compressing the bust like some other sports bras. Next Fall, 2011, a bold statement moulded racer back sports bra will be launched featuring some exciting new styling. The soft moulded cup features breathable spacer fabric for high performance but with medium coverage allowing for a more flattering silhouette. A new padded hook & eye with a soft seal provides extra comfort and makes it particularly good for mat work. One of the key features, a racer back, allows optimum support with reduced bounce.
The moulded racer back will be available 34B-40C , 28D-40G, 28GG-38GG and 30H-36H

The existing underwire and soft cup bra options feature Coolmax® fabric that whisks moisture away and keeps the wearer cool and dry. An inner sling extending to the shoulder straps provides further support. The underwire option includes a wider than normal curvature wire for extra comfort & maximum support. Puncture resistant wire casing allows for this to be a machine washable garment.
Soft cup is available in sizes 32C-38C and 28D-40H
Underwired bra is available in sizes 28D-38G and 30GG to 38H

A new short and thong will be introduced to sit alongside the moulded racer back bra and existing, soft cup and underwired options. With a deep leg, supersoft waistband, and the innovative Coolmax Fresh® fabric, the new style short will ensure any exercise regime is enhanced to the max. Built in antibacterial properties neutralizes your workout keeping you fresh even when you’ve gone that extra mile. Both the short and the thong will be available in sizes XS-XL.

I always laugh at what passes for a sports bra! A crop top with no support is not a sports bra. If you are bigger than a D Cup, stick with companies like Freya. Nobody else comes close to the quality and the cup sizes ranging from a C to an H.

What Do Men Really Want For Valentine’s Day?

We thought instead of giving guys ideas for their girlfriends this Valentine's Day, we though you girls might need some ideas for your man!  So what do men really want for Valentine's Day?

Think of Him Often
The week leading up to Valentine’s Day, put a love note in his lunch each day.  Put a card with his favorite candy in his car while he’s at work.  Send him a love note on his email, or send him a sexy e-card.  Make him something from scratch that you know he likes.  You don’t have to spend a lot of money, it is really the thought that counts.

Enjoy What he Enjoys
Get tickets to a sports game, and go with him.  If he likes camping, plan a camping trip for the weekend, or if he has been dying to see a movie you don’t love, take him and go see it with him.  Buy him tickets for both of you to go see his favorite band if they are playing in your area.  Get him something for his vehicle.  If you keep him in mind while planning a night out, it will make his day!

Alone Time
Get a babysitter, and go out, or better yet, get a babysitter and stay in.  Spend some time with no kids and no friends, just the two of you.  Men really do like to feel important; plan a night where he is the center of attention.  Or just go for a drive and hold hands like when you were first dating.

Let Him Spoil You
They say “It is better to give than to receive”.  He may not be good at showing you how he feels every day, but this is one day where he can.  If he has a hard time telling you he loves you, let him show you he loves you today.  If he likes buying you gifts, or making you dinner, or just taking you out on Valentine’s Day, let him be the gift-giver this time.  And make sure he knows you appreciate his efforts.

 Time in the Bedroom
Every guy wants a women to take charge in the bedroom once in a while.  This is your chance!  Buy some new lingerie.  Do something for him in the bedroom that you normally don’t do or try something new.  Or help him fulfill a fantasy that he has been wanting to try.  Women always want to be swept off their feet, but men like to be taken sometimes too.

Men are really fairly easy to please, they don’t need expensive gifts or candy, or a big bouquet of flowers.  They just want to feel loved and appreciated! Tell your sweetheart how much you love them and appreciate everything they do.  And make this Valentine’s Day all about him!

The shape of future bra designs and fitting methods

Bra Retailers Association Launches

Lingerie retailers and universities have launched a new national association to end the confusion over bra sizing.

The Bra Retailers Association (BRA) aims to eventually provide a BRA ‘fit assured’ kitemark on approved products so that consumers can be guaranteed a good bra fit. They’re also looking to broaden understanding on best bra fit, raise awareness of breast health, advise schools and provide advice on different bra styles for different body shapes. With the impartial support of the Association of Suppliers to the British Clothing Industry (ASBCI), retailers are working with some of the UK’s leading academics, including bra fitting and design experts from De Montfort University and the breast health research group from the University of Portsmouth.

The initiative follows the ASBCI seminar Shaping Up For Lingerie at which Karen Flude, garment technologist for lingerie and swimwear at ASDA’s George Clothing, called for UK bra suppliers and bra design and breast health specialists to share their expertise and resources and create a national bra fit standard.

"We want the marketplace to be a lot less confusing for the consumer. As it stands a woman could be one size in one shop and a completely different size in another. That sort of confusion makes it much more likely she will be wearing the wrong size bra which, in turn, could affect her health and comfort. It’s time we worked together."

 Karen Flude

The founding members of BRA are inviting retailers, suppliers and relevant research groups not already involved to join the next forum and help shape future bra designs and fitting methods.

I hope they come up with something . . . . the UK seems to understand women's bodies, and the need for a good fit in bras.  ~Le V
